Yesterday I pulled out the October card kit from Simon Says Stamp again and got to work: we have a lot of fall birthdays in our family!
My daughter had made a few cards last week. She makes lovely, simple cards, and because she doesn’t get caught up in trends or fancy techniques, she often does things I don’t think of, like fussy cut the coffee mug. So she was my inspiration for this card. She also loves heat embossing and Wink of Stella, both of which make an appearance here in her honor.
This was the second card I made, and I had a funny experience while I was looking for inspiration online. I knew I wanted to use the talk balloon stamp and the “what’s brewing?” sentiment stamp together, but I wasn’t sure just how. I hopped online to the card kit gallery at Simon Says Stamp for this kit and scrolled through. looking for talk balloons and opening tabs with examples as I went along. When I went from tab to tab I was surprised to see that I’d clicked on one of my own cards where I’d previously used the talk balloon–I had completely forgotten I’d used it! So I sort of inspired myself… Only in the meantime I had had the idea of heat embossing the sentiment first and stamping the talk balloon on top, letting the embossed words resist the ink–which worked just fine.
I’m adding this second card to the Monday “Anything Goes” challenge at Simon Says Stamp–check out the fun here!
