We have Eastern Phoebes nesting near (maybe somewhere on?) our house this year. One of these birds is frequently perched like this on our feeder pole. Phoebes have no interest in bird feeder fodder–I think they prefer live bugs–but I guess this is a good spot from which to keep watch over the nest while also being ready to snatch some poor insect from the air. I have looked for but not found the nest. I will miss seeing this bird here when he or she finally moves on.
