I used to be an avid scrapbooker, starting with digital scrapbooking in 2007 and then migrating (against the general flow of things) to traditional scrapping a couple years ago. For the past year I have barely scrapped at all–just a few pages here and there. I never decided to quit; I just began to devote more energy to art journaling and mixed media art, and the scrapbooking fell by the wayside. But every so often the urge hits me, usually because of a photo that’s particularly meaningful to me. That was the case here, though the photo has sat around on my desk since January waiting for that urge to strike!
It is probably no coincidence that I wanted to scrap this photo this week. This boy graduates from college on Saturday, and after that he’s moving to Ohio, home state of his fiancee, to look for a job and plan their wedding. So this January photo is extra special, and it reminds me that no matter how far away he moves or how he grows up and commits his life and love to his bride, he’s still my boy and I’m still his mom. And that’s pretty awesome.
