I’m trying to stretch my creative muscles more often by taking part in a few online challenges. I took a look at this week’s Monday challenge at Simon Says Stamp and thought, Oh, no–yellow? Because I really don’t use much yellow. But I’ve recently begun to overcome an aversion to pink, so maybe I can embrace yellow as well. And, after all, that’s what challenges are for, right? Stretching.
So here’s my take on it. I suppose there is more teal on this tag than yellow, but there’s a lot more yellow than I usually use, so I’m calling it good. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks for the tag background, and the branch is from a Tim Holtz die. The bird is cut from patterned paper (it was yellow, but I made it even more yellow with Distress Ink–can I have extra credit, please?) using a Memory Box die, and the leafy border is cut from the same paper with a Memory Box die. The flowers are from some mulberry paper scraps and cut using a Tim Holtz die. I used some Maya Mist to color the tag string.
I’m pretty happy with my tag, and I’m thinking yellow may find its way a little more often into my little creative world.
